Breaking: Rockets and Thunder Swap Westbrook for CP3

The Houston Rockets have acquired Russell Westbrook from the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for Chris Paul, 2024 and 2026 1st round picks and the option to swap 1st round picks in 2021 and 2025.

The Thunder continue to assemble picks and assets as they attempt to rebuild. In the past week the Thunder have traded Paul George, Jerami Grant and now Russell Westbrook acquiring a total of eight 1st round picks. This now officially gives them 15 first round and swap options from 2020-2026.

For the Rockets, they will pair James Harden and Russell Westbrook back up from their days with the Thunder. It has been rumored for months about Chris Paul being on the move from Houston. The Rockets make a major move as other western conference teams have improved their team this offseason.

The move makes sense for both teams as the Rockets look to be playoff contenders while the Thunder accumulate assets to rebuild.
