Inter Miami CF announced on Tuesday that they have signed 19 year old Christian Makoun, from Venezuela, as its third player in club history. He will take the pitch when the team starts play in the 2020 season. This is the third young star that Miami has signed this year showing that Miami is looking to compete in its inaugural season. Miami is also set to hire their first head coach soon as well.
Makoun plays defensive midfield and center back and comes to Miami via transfer from Zamora F.C. of Venezuela’s First Division. The young player recently returned to Venezuela in July after being on loan with Juventus for the 2018-2019 season. He made 21 appearances and scored 3 goals for the U-23 team, including appearing in 13 regular-season matches. He also appeared seven time for the UEFA Youth League and one in Copa Italia.
Makoun joined Zamora F.C. in 2016 and has 35 appearances across several competitions. He made 22 regular-season matches, nine in COPA Venezuela, two in COPA Libertadores, and two in COPA Subamericana. He has also captained Venezuela’s U-20 team and made two appearances in the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

“We are happy to add a young player with solid experience both in Europe and South America to Inter Miami’s roster,” Inter Miami sporting director said in a statement. He went on to say, “Christian is a grounded player of good character and maturity. He has shown us that he strives to represent himself and his home country at the highest level, and this the mindset we want to build at Inter Miami.”d
His signing is pending the receipt of his International Transfer Certificate and a P-1 Visa.
