NCAAF IS HERE! The 2019-20 ACC Football Season Preview you have been waiting for is here as well. A new college football season is upon us and as always it is the most exciting time of the year! Week zero kicks off Saturday with an old rivalry in the state of Florida. The Miami Hurricanes square off against the Florida Gators in Orlando. As a Canes fan, nothing excites me more than opening the season against a top ten opponent, specifically an in-state rival and the best part… I WILL BE THERE!
Jumping right into things and previewing the ACC, hence the title, there is one team that stands above all, the Clemson Tigers. Coming in at number one in the week 0/1 AP poll, there is no surprise that they are the team to beat. In the ACC, according to the media, Clemson is favoured to win the Atlantic. Virginia was picked to win the Coastal. Did we ever think we would see the day when Virginia was picked to win the division over Miami!? Did we!?! Is this basketball or football? Confusing to say the least.
In the Atlantic, as mentioned earlier, you have Clemson at the top. Clemson returns Lawrence and Etienne on offense. Probably enough said right there. Following behind Clemson you have a team that can be scary this year in Syracuse. Dino Babers has his guys rolling up in the dome and they are primed to put it all out there against the other guys in Orange. Following behind Cuse comes Florida State, NC State, Boston College, Wake Forest and Louisville. Florida State and Willie Wonka (Taggart) may get some wins but then again it’s Florida State. NC State always finds a way to knock someone off so who will it be this year? Boston College and AJ Dillon can definitely run the ball but that’s about it. Wake and Louisville should just try and fast forward to next year.
On to the Coastal where Virginia was picked to win the division. Miami comes in behind Virginia with first-year head coach Manny Diaz leading the way. Virginia Tech sits below Miami as Bud Foster will leave it all on the field… literally. Following VT comes Pitt, Duke, UNC, and Georgia Tech. Pitt can be scary but not worth anything until they knock Miami off of their perfect season. The other three in Duke, UNC and Georgia Tech are already ready for basketball season.

Now let me share my ACC Football Season Preview. Starting in the Atlantic, I will obviously go with Clemson at the top and Cuse closely behind them. Trevor Lawrence will be the best quarterback in the country and Etienne might be the best runningback in the conference. Cuse is Cuse, always finding a way. I think BC has more than what people think (AJ Dillon at RB) and I do not believe FSU or NC State are anything special. I will place Boston College behind Syracuse. After BC, I have FSU and NC State follow. Wake and Louisville holding up the end of the pack in the Atlantic.
Jumping into the Coastal, I disagree with the picks earlier and I will again here. Miami will win the Coastal followed by Virginia Tech and Virginia. Miami has too much on defense to not win the division and their offense can’t be worse than last year so it’s only up from here. Tech may not be as good as a season ago, but Bud Foster is done after this season so expect them to leave it all out there for him. UVA, sorry Bronco but not this year, too much hype! After Virginia, I will place Pittsburgh, UNC, Duke and Georgia Tech. I don’t think any of these teams have enough to compete and the one advantage one has over all the others is a proven winner in Mack Brown, now the head coach at UNC and Sam Howell, their quarterback hopeful.
The ACC championship game will definitely be better than two years ago when Clemson drug The U up and down the field. I still think Clemson will win and eventually move on to the playoff, but an Orange Bowl appearance for the Hurricanes and first-year head coach Manny Diaz will be a capital W on the season. A great way for the season to end for the Hurricanes, Orange Bowl or bust.
