We are now on Week 3 of the preseason and we already know who will be making it and not making the roster. There may be some surprises though so here are my top winners and losers of Patriots preseason week three.
Week 3 Winners
Jakobi Meyers
Jakobi Meyers was an undrafted free agent out of North Carolina State and he has been showing up this year. Meyers had another outstanding game against the Panthers this Thursday. He had seven receptions for 74 receiving yards and he had a tackle. Meyers is solidifying himself as a top receiver on the New England Patriots. He has surprised the league this season and has been an amazing pre-season player. I have had him on my Week 1 and Week 3 lists. This shows how good of a player he is going to be in the future. As long as he keeps grinding he could be a future receiver on the New England Patriots.

Jarret Stidham
Jarret Stidham was drafted this season with the 31st pick in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL draft. Stidham is on a role to have the starting position, but Brian Hoyer did not play at all in the last preseason game. He threw for 134 passing yards and he completed 15 out of 19 of his throws. Stidham has been slinging the ball this season up and down the field and I expect him to be a serviceable back up this season. In the future after Tom Brady retires Stidham may be the starting quarterback.

Ufomba Kamalu
Ufomba Kamalu was an undrafted free agent in 2016 and he was picked up by the Texans, but this season he was added to the Patriots. Kamalu had a great game at defensive tackle racking up five tackles, one sack, and one tackle for loss. He has played hard and this may give him a major push for New England to sign him this season. If he has an equal showing next week he has a good chance to make the roster.

Week 3 Losers
Braxton Berrios
Braxton Berrios was drafted with the 210th pick in the 2018 NFL draft and sat his first season on the practice squad. Berrios has been shown out by many underrated receivers in training camp and the preseason games. I think his time in New England is over since we have a stacked receiving core in Josh Gordon, Julian Edelman, Jakobi Meyers, N’Keal Harry, Demaryius Thomas, and Phillip Dorsett. Berrios could be back on the practice squad this year and this is where he will most likely go.

Brian Hoyer
Brian Hoyer is a veteran backup quarterback and he has been in the NFL for many seasons. Hoyer did not play in this preseason game showing that Stidham will be the backup this season and not Hoyer. Hoyer has been with New England for countless seasons and this may be the last we see of him in New England. Unless he impresses coaching staff in training camp he will not make the roster this season.

Rex Burkhead
Rex Burkhead had an awful game which he rushed for only three yards on two attempts. Burkhead was hurt most of last season, but he was going to play third-string until players like Damien Harris and Brandon Bolden have been playing better. Burkhead may still make the roster, but not in the role he would prefer.
