The former KSW welterweight title holder and current EFC middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis (12-2) will make his highly anticipated return to the cage against Joilton Santos Lutterbach (30-7) at KSW 50.
Dricus Du Plessis
Du Plessis has accomplished a lot in just 14 professional MMA bouts including managing to capture both the EFC welterweight and middleweight championships, as well as the KSW welterweight championship.
He claimed the KSW welterweight belt during his promotional debut with a second-round knockout victory over Roberto Soldic (16-3) at KSW 43.
The South African will make his first venture back into the cage at KSW 50 against Joilton Santos Lutterbach in the same venue as his last appearance on October 6th 2018. During which he lost the KSW welterweight championship in a rematch against the current champion, Roberto Soldic via third-round knock-out.
Du Plessis will be hoping that a win against his experienced opponent will set up the trilogy fight against Soldic. KSW 50 is the perfect event for the trilogy fight to be set up after as both fighters will be competing on the card.
However, for the trilogy fight to have any chance of being set up Soldic will need to retain his belt against Patrik Kincl (22-9) and Du Plessis will have to overcome Joilton Santos Lutterbach at KSW 50.
Joilinton Santos Lutterbach
Joilton Santos Lutterbach will come into the fight against Du Plessis on an impressive six-fight win streak. The most notable of these wins coming against former UFC and current Cage Warriors welterweight Craig White (14-10), at Cage Warriors 102 via a unanimous decision.
The Brazilian, who fights out of Germany, will be hoping to spoil Du Plessis’ return to the cage as well as quench any hope Du Plessis has of a trilogy fight with Soldic.
A win over Du Plessis would put Joilton Santos Lutterbach in contention for his own showdown with either Soldic or Kincl for the KSW welterweight title.
KSW 50 will take place on September 14th at the SSE Arena, Wembley in London, England. The event will feature four title bouts including, Philip De Fries (17-6) vs Luis Henrique (12-5), Tomasz Narkun (16-3) vs Przemyslaw Mysiala (23-9), Norman Parke (27-6) vs Marian Ziolkowski (21-7), and Roberto Soldic (16-3) vs Patrik Kincl (22-9).
Du Plessis vs Soldic 1 and 2
For anybody who has not seen the first two fights between Du Plessis and Soldic, I would highly recommend checking them out to see why the idea of a trilogy fight is building so much hype. The first fight can be found here and the second fight can be found here, both of which are on KSW’s official YouTube page.
