After a successful debut in China last week the UFC returns tomorrow with UFC 242, which takes place at The Arena on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. Dustin Poirier (25-5) will be hoping for a similar outcome to that of the main event at UFC Shenzhen, where Weili Zhang (20-1) successfully dethroned Jessica Andrade (20-7) with a 42-second blitz KO of the former champion. This will be a tough ask for Poirier although one of our team believes he is up to the task of shocking both Khabib and the world.
The main event at UFC 242 will see Khabib Nurmagomedov (27-0) defend his lightweight championship against Poirier (25-5). Khabib will be looking to utilise his relentless forward pressure to break Poirier, whereas Poirier will look to keep the fight on the feet, where he should be able to outstrike the Russian. This is the first time the champion has set foot in the octagon since he was suspended as a result of his actions during the aftermath of his victory over Conor Mcgregor (21-4).
Paul Felder (16-4) will be looking to avenge his previous, unanimous decision, loss to Edson Barboza (20-7) when the two meet for the second time in the co-main event of the evening at UFC 242. Barboza will come into the fight with a record of one and three in his last four fights, whereas Felder on the overhand has a record of three and one in his last four fights.
Felder will be hoping to avoid taking another spinning d**k kick from Barboza after the pain he felt from this strike during their first fight. This will also be Felder’s first walk to the octagon in just under 7 months, which he was forced to take off due to a lung injury, which he suffered in his win over James Vick (13-4).
