Pacific Division Fantasy Preview

The Ducks were absolutely destroyed by injuries, only one player played the full 82 game schedule and that was Adam Henrique. If the Ducks can find a way to stay healthy they have the chance to ice a handful of fantasy players, and good ones too. Don’t sleep on John Gibson, he’s one of the most talented goalies in the NHL who’s going to be relied on for a ton of starts.

Hello! Welcome to the Overtime Heroics Pacific division preview. In this article we will be going through each team alphabetically giving you a break down of the fantasy hockey relevant players. Also a few notable players and rookies to watch! Come on in!

Anaheim Ducks (35-37-10)

Ryan Getzlaf:
2018-2019 - 67 GP/ 14G/ 34A/ 48 points/ 150 hits/133 SOG/ -19/ 74 blocks/ 133 shots.

Rickard Rakell:
2018-2019 - 69 GP/ 18G/ 25A/ 43 points/ 82 hits/ -13/ 38 blocks/ 194 shots.

John Gibson:
2018-2019 - 58GP/ 26-22-8/ .917SV% / 2.84 GAA/ 2SO

Other Notable Players:
Ondrej Kase:
2018-2019 - 30GP/ 11G/ 9A/ 20 points/ 17 hits/ 0/ 11 blocks/ 94 shots.
Ondrej Kase possesses ridiculous underlying stats. He's been talked about so much as a sleeper that it's hard to consider him to be a sleeper anymore. Kase is a stick of dynamite waiting to go off, if given the chance he will. Look for top line deployment and PP1 time.

Jakob Silfverberg:
2018-2019 - 73GP/ 24G/ 19A/ 43 points/ 38 hits/ -5/ 43 blocks/ 163 shots.
Silfverberg has always struggled with reaching that 50 point plateau, but he's great for potting 20 goals on a fairly consistent basis. Keep an eye on him in deep leagues.

Rookies to watch:
LW - Max Comtois
C - Sam Steel
C - Troy Terry

Arizona Coyotes (39-35-8)

An unfortunate year to say the least. A very low scoring group of players who had issues staying healthy. Lots of untapped potential, with the addition of Phil Kessel this team may be closer to realizing that potential than not. Phil is certainly going to help on the powerplay, which will add a huge boost to the Coyotes offensive production.

Clayton Keller:
2018-2019 - 82GP/ 14G/ 33A/ 47 points/ 16 hits/ -21/ 21 blocks/ 200 shots.

Phil Kessel:
2018-2019 - 82GP/ 27G/ 55A/ 82 points/ 12 hits/ -19/ 18 blocks/ 215 shots.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson:
2018-2019 - 81GP/ 14G/ 30A/ 44 points/ 162 hits/ -16/ 52 blocks/ 176 shots.

Antti Raanta:
2018-2019 - 12 GP/ 5-6-0/ .906 SV%/ 2.88 GAA/ 0 SO

Darcy Kuemper:
2018-2019 - 55GP/ 27-20-8/ .925 SV%/ 2.33GAA/ 5 SO

Other Notable Players:
Nick Schmaltz:
2018-2019 - (CHI/ARZ) - 40 GP/ 7G/ 18A/ 25 points/ 5 hits/ -12/ 12 blocks/ 29 shots.
There's a very good chance that Nick comes into the year as the Coyotes top line center. He didn't accidentally score 25 points in 40 games in that role last season.

Rookies to watch:
(C) Barrett Hayton
(D) Kyle Capiobanco
(RW) Nick Merkley

Calgary Flames (50-25-7)

The top team in the Western Conference in the 2018-2019 season and second to only Tampa Bay in the NHL, the Flames boasted a dynamic top line and a top notch powerplay that fed a red hot offense and a Norris winning season from Mark Giordano. Going into the 2019-2020 season the biggest question mark is the goaltending. The job is wide open.

Sean Monahan:
2018-2019 - 79GP/ 34G/ 48A/ 82 points/ 36 hits/ 7/ 24 blocks/ 245 shots.

Johnny Gaudreau:
2018-2019 - 82GP/ 36G/ 63A/ 99 points/ 12 hits/ 18/ 12 blocks/ 211 shots.

Matthew Tkachuk:
2018-2019 - 80GP/ 34G/ 43A/ 77 points/ 104 hits/ 14/ 13 blocks/ 247 shots.

Elias Lindholm:
2018-2019 - 80GP/ 27G/ 51A/ 78 points/ 82 hits/ 30/ 39 blocks/ 182 shots.

Mark Giordano:
2018-2019 - 78GP/ 17G/ 57A/ 74 points/ 58 hits/ 39/ 144 blocks/ 221 shots.

Other Notable Players:
Mikael Backlund:
2018-2019 - 77GP/ 21G/ 26A/ 47 points/ 52 hits/ 34/ 26 blocks/ 205 shots.
Likely a player to place on the watch list, a really good real life hockey player, a bubble fantasy hockey player. Definitely a player to consider taking in deeper pools.

Rookies to watch:
(C) Dillon Dube

Edmonton Oilers (35-38-9)

It’s not every season a team boasts two 100 point players and misses the playoffs. A very top heavy team, with very little depth. Connor McDavid is arguably the most dynamic player in the game and, one of the few players that possesses a 100 point floor.

Connor McDavid:
2018-2019 - 78GP/ 41G/ 75A/ 116 points/ 39 hits/ 3/ 30 blocks/ 240 shots.

Leon Draisaitl:
2018-2019 - 82GP/ 50G/ 55A/ 105 points/ 57 hits/ 2/ 26 blocks/231 shots.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins:
2018-2019 - 82GP/ 28G/ 41A/ 69 points/ 69 hits/ -13/ 40 blocks/ 208 shots.

Other Notable Players:
Darnell Nurse:
2018-2019 - 82 GP/ 10G/ 31A/ 41 points/ 162 hits/ -5/ 146 blocks/ 196 shots.
The often relied upon blueliner had a great campaign. Setting new career highs with 10 goals, 31 assists and 41 points. Due to injury he was exposed to a ton of ice time. It certainly didn't hurt his production.

Joel Persson:
(SHL) 2018-2019 - 50GP/ 6G/ 25A/ 31 pts.
A candidate for the top powerplay. Persson possesses high-end puck skills, great vision and a fantastic shot. He moves well and can transition the puck with ease.

Rookies to watch:
(RW) Kailer Yamamoto
(D) Evan Bouchard

Los Angeles Kings (31-42-9)

Long gone are the days of the championship Kings. To say the season was a write off is a understatement, only one team placed lower in the standings. The Kings do however boast a few fantasy relevant players that should be on everyone’s radar.

Anze Kopitar:
2018-2019 - 81GP/ 22G/ 38A/ 60 points/ 59 hits/ -20/ 66 blocks/ 156 shots.

Dustin Brown:
2018-2019 - 72GP/ 22G / 29A/ 51 points/ 150 hits/ -17/ 29 blocks/ 180 shots.

Drew Doughty:
2018-2019 - 82 GP/ 8G/ 37A/ 45 points/ 168 hits/ -34/ 120 blocks/ 154 shots.

Jonathan Quick:
2018-2019 - 46GP/ 16-23-7/ .888 SV%/ 3.38 GAA/ 2 SO.

Other Notable Players:
Jack Campbell:
2018-2019 - 31GP/ 10-14-1/ .928 SV%/ 2.30 GAA/ 2 SO.
Quick has had issues over the last three seasons staying healthy, look for Jack Campbell to step in if an injury occurs to Quick. Jack played outstanding and should be watched closely.

Ilya Kovalchuk:
2018-2019 - 64GP/ 16G/ 18A/ 34 points/ 28 hits/ -26/ 19 blocks/ 141 shots.
Deployment is key, exposure is essential and Kovalchuk had very little of that especially under the coaching of Willie Desjardins. Kovy has some jump left in his step, keep an eye on him.

Tyler Toffoli:
2018 - 2019 - 82GP/ 13G/ 21A/ 34 points/ 39 hits/ -16/ 23 blocks/ 226 shots.
Toffoli shot a ridiculously low 5.8%. It's so low it's unsustainable, the only way it could be lower is if he doesn't shoot at all. Primed for a bounce-back year, keep him on your watch lost.

Rookies to watch:
(C) Gabriel Vilardi
(D) Kale Clague

San Jose Sharks (46-27-9)

A team fueled by elite D and good puck moving forwards, this team showcases a lot of talent across the board. With that being the case the San Jose Sharks have a lot of fantasy relevant hockey players.

Brent Burns:
2018-2019 - 82GP/ 16G/ 67A/ 83 points/ 90 hits/ 13/ 105 blocks/ 300 shots.

Erik Karlsson:
2018-2019 - 53GP/ 3G/ 42A/ 45 points/ 44 hits/ 6/ 69 blocks/ 169 shots.

Tomas Hertl:
2018-2019 - 77GP/ 35G/ 39A/ 74 points/ 53 hits/ 5/ 64 blocks/ 176 shots.

Logan Couture:
2018-2019 - 81GP/ 27G/ 43A/ 70 points/ 65 hits/ -6/ 52 blocks/ 204 shots.

Timo Meier:
2018-2019 - 78GP/ 30G/ 36A/ 66 points/ 99 hits/ 9/ 40 blocks/ 250 shots.

Evander Kane
2018-2019 - 75GP/ 30G/ 26A/ 56 points/ 173 hits/ -4/ 25 blocks/ 268 shots.

Martin Jones
2018-2019 - 62GP/ 36-19-5/ .896 SV%/ 2.94 GAA/ 3 SO

Other notable players:
Kevin Labanc:
2018-2019 - 82GP/ 17G/ 39A/ 56 points/ 66 hits/ -1/ 16 blocks/ 130 shots.
Kevin has been progressing nicely into an everyday NHL player

Rookies to watch:
(RW) Ivan Chemlevski
(C) Antti Suomela

Vancouver Canucks (35-36-11)

Lead by young superstar in the making Elias Pettersson, the Canucks iced three offensively talented forwards, a steady presence in Alex Edler on the blue line and the goaltending breakout Vancouver has been waiting for. The Canucks are trending in the right direction it’s just a matter of time before this team becomes a potent offensive team again.

Elias Pettersson:
2018-2019 - 71GP/ 28G/ 38A/ 66 points/ 42 hits/ 3/ 51 blocks/ 144 shots.

Brock Boeser:
2018-2019 - 69GP/ 26G/ 30A/ 56 points/ 14 hits/ -2/ 22 blocks/ 209 shots

Bo Horvat:

Other notable players:
(G) Thatcher Demko
(C) J.T Miller
(LW) Micheal Ferland

Rookies to watch:
Quinn Hughes
Olli Juolevi

Vegas Golden Knights (43-32-7)

A team built around scoring by committee, but the team has bought into a system and has made it work. Look for reliable point producing players from the Golden Knights.

William Karlsson:
2018-2019 - 82GP/ 24G/ 32A/ 56 points/ 51 hits/ 1/ 55 blocks/ 169 shots.

(RW) Alex Tuch
(D) Shea Theodore
