The octagon travels to Florida this weekend for UFC Tampa, as former strawweight queen Joanna Jedrzejczyk faces Michelle Waterson.
With a card that has seen some changes and a last minute bit of drama with Jedrzejczyk concerned she might not make the strawweight limit. Only days away the dust has settled and it looks like fans will be in for a treat with some real action fighters on the card.
The Top of the Card
With their name in lights and media swarming around them, Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Michelle Waterson are set to put on a show.
Jedrzejczyk is coming off a loss that saw her attempt to dethrone Valentina Schevchenko. With her only losses coming in championship bouts, it will be interesting to see how Jedrzejczyk fares against Waterson.
Waterson is coming into this bout on a three fight win streak. The most recent victory coming against Karolina Kowalkiewicz. Both women are fan favorites so the winner could receive a title shot.
In in the co-main event Cub Swanson will be taking on Kron Gracie in a bout that should draw a lot of eyes. Swanson is a fan favorite but he is a on a four fight skid, not having seen a win since 2017.
Known for his exciting style and willingness to dig deep, Swanson could very well lose his contract if he drops this fight.
Swanson will be looking to keep the fight standing and take the prospect into deep water.
Standing across the cage will be Kron Gracie.
Yes, that Gracie family.
Kron is a 5-0 prospect that has submitted all of his opponents thus far. Swanson will be his biggest test to date. With a legacy spanning generations I have the feeling Kron is ready for the pressure.
And with 7 of 11 losses coming by way of submission for Swanson I am sure Kron has a clear game plan.
Fights You Might Have Missed
Kicking off the main card will be Eryk Anders looking to throw hands with Gerald Meerschaert. But with 21 submission wins Meerschaert will be looking to take wild man Anders to the mat and keep it a quiet night.
Ryan Spann is on the preliminary card and has only seen the judges 4 times out of 21 appearances. He wants to make his way to main card fights so expect fireworks at UFC Tampa.
James Vick will be looking to get back into the win column having dropped three fights in a row. With a brash nature on the mic fans were happy to see Vick stopped twice in his last three. But with a contract on the line I think Vick will be here to make a statement, win or lose.
