UFC light heavyweight champion, Jon Jones, teases what would be a mega fight. Jones has mentioned on Twitter that he should possibly wait on the winner of Stipe and Cormier. Also stating that the rest of the light heavyweight division should figure out who should be worthy of challenging him next.
The tease came after an impressive first round KO at UFC fight night in Boston. Dominick Reyes dropped former middleweight champion Chris Weidman in the first round of the main event. In the octagon interview, Reyes called out Jon Jones as he secured the top contender spot. Jones and company replied saying that they believe Dominick needs another win before a chance at gold.
Big Year for Jones
Returning from a second USADA suspension, Jones reclaimed his powerful presence in the UFC. Jon kept busy throughout the year fighting three times in just seven months. He burned through the top contenders and stunned the division once again. Now Jones could have a much bigger target in his sights.
Heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier have been rumored to fight early next year. Jones is proposing that he moves up the ladder and takes the winner of that fight. The UFC is yet to comment on this preposition, however, this makes for some good drama.
An Ending to a Rivalry?
Jones and Cormier III would be an absolute sell out to conclude the everlasting rivalry. With that being said, getting past Stipe is no easy task whatsoever. Leaving the fans to wonder, will Jon Jones ever make the move to heavyweight?
As the light heavyweight looks to gather it’s toughest challenger to fight against Jones, “Bones” could look to add his name to the champ-champ list.
