Louis Domingue Traded to New Jersey Devils

The New Jersey Devils have acquired goaltender Louis Domingue from the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Devils acquired the goalie in exchange for a conditional seventh round pick in the 2021 Draft. Domingue was currently in the last year of his $1.15 Million contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

However, he was not seeing play time with the NHL side, as he was sent down to the AHL to play for affiliate side the Syracuse Crunch. Louis Domingue has currently been going through a bit of a slump.

Domingue had made it clear that he did not want to be in Syracuse, therefore making the trade ideal for the Devils. Should he return to form this could be a very smart move for them.

Last season, Louis Domingue was monumental in securing twenty wins for the Tampa Bay Lightning in place of Andrei Vasilevskiy. He also quickly became a fan favorite due to his post-game antics, documented on the Lightning social media.

Whilst the trade may seem less than ideal for the Lightning, it is the best result possible for Domingue as he gets another chance in net.
