Hawks Growing Pains

After posting a forgettable 0-3 record in the second week of the season, the Hawks have reason to smile. Star point guard, Trae Young, went through a full practice on Monday and returned on Tuesday night. This was a much-needed boost for a young Hawks core that relied heavily on the play of John Collins, Jabari Parker and Deandre’ Bembry. However, Trae Young was able to pick up where he left off and scored a game high 29points and 13 assist in his return.

Looking Ahead

The Hawks have a hectic week, starting with the Spurs last night, then the Bulls, Kings, and Blazers all on the horizon. It will be crucial for the guys to start finding their rhythm individually, especially with John Collins’ suspension. That means Kevin Huerter’s three-ball needs to start dropping, Deandre Hunter’s all-around game needs to take shape, and Cam Reddish simply needs to slow down and attack more confidently. We know how talented Trae is and just how easy he can put up 30 points, but with this excess of talent, Trae shouldn’t have to do so. Growing pains were expected. This week should be the start of the new-look Hawks, putting it all together.
