Hazard Lights up the Bernabeu
Real Madrid vs Paris Saint-Germain was a blockbuster. The game had it all, from VAR controversy to a rescinded red card. Gareth Bale should’ve sealed the deal for Madrid late in the match, but Eden Hazard and Karim Benzema provided a peach of a play the home fans won’t forget.
Many football fans believe the Argentine should be a regular for Juventus, and Dybala repaid their faith by scoring the game-winner against Atletico Madrid. His free-kick catapulted above the Atletico wall, going through Jan Oblak’s helpless arms with lightning bend and speed. Genius.
Sarabia Stuns Madrid
The goal that won Group A for PSG. The Parisian side admirably fought back against Real Madrid to tie the game 2-2. Kylian Mbappe found the lifeline right after Madrid scored the second goal, and Pablo Sarabia’s stunner ensured PSG clawed back to win their group.
Gomez Destroys Dinamo Zagreb
Atalanta caught the eyes of many after holding Manchester City to a 1-1 draw in the last round. This time, captain Papu Gomez lit up the Atalanta crowd by producing a step-over meg, before rifling the ball past Zagreb goalkeeper Dominik Livaković to make it 2-0. Gomez is Italian football’s underrated gem.
Aurier Completes the Comeback
It hasn’t taken long for Jose Mourinho to galvanize Tottenham. The north London outfit traveled to Greece off the back of a 3-2 win over city rivals West Ham. Mourinho’s men rallied to win the match 4-2, after being down 2-0 in the first 20 minutes. Serge Aurier’s rocket salvaged the game for Spurs.
Bender’s Volley Gives Leverkusen Lifeline
Facing Juventus and Atletico Madrid in the same group is a tough task for any team. Bayer Leverkusen however, are two results away from advancing to the knockout stages, after Los Colchoneros missed a chance to seal progression against Juventus. Leverkusen are now a win and an Atletico loss away from the Round of 16, thanks to Lars Bender’s venomous volley against Lokomotiv Moskow.
