Start or Sit Week 13: Quarterbacks

Image for Start or Sit Week 13: Quarterbacks

Fantasy players that are clear starters will not be included in this Start or Sit article such as Patrick Mahomes, Christian McCaffrey, and Michael Thomas.  All the fantasy stats shown below will be based on a Point Per Reception (PPR) scoring format.

Start of the Week: Jameis Winston @ Jacksonville Jaguars

Jameis Winston is a turnover machine. There is no doubt about that, but he also is a touchdown machine throwing for 22 touchdowns. Winston goes up against the Jacksonville Jaguars secondary who have struggled to contain quarterbacks. Last week they allowed Ryan Tannehill to destroy them on the ground and through the air putting up 32.4 points. Also noteworthy: since the bye week, Winston is averaging 32.4 yards on the ground which is almost equivalent to a full passing touchdown. He is starting to use the ground more.

Other Good Starts:

  • Nick Foles vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers
  • Mitch Trubisky @ Detroit Lions
  • Derek Carr @ Kansas City

Sit of the Week: Baker Mayfield @ Pittsburgh Steelers

Baker Mayfield has sort of found his footing and been doing very well since the New England Patriots game. Since then, he has put up at least 17 fantasy points every week. The matchup here is not a good one. Yes, Mayfield had a solid showing against the Steelers last time putting up 21.8 points, but this time the game is in Pittsburgh, and I imagine it is a revenge game for Pittsburgh after their poor showing against the Browns last time they faced. It would be smart to look elsewhere on the waivers.

Other Good Sits:

  • Jeff Driskel @ Chicago Bears
  • Jacoby Brissett vs Tennessee Titans
  • Jimmy Garoppolo @ Baltimore Ravens
