Start or Sit Week 13: Tight Ends

Image for Start or Sit Week 13: Tight Ends

Fantasy players that are clear starters will not be included in this Start or Sit article such as Patrick Mahomes, Christian McCaffrey, and Michael Thomas.  All the fantasy stats shown below will be based on a Point Per Reception (PPR) scoring format.

Start of the Week:  Jared Cook @ Atlanta Falcons

Jared Cook has been a reliable target for Drew Brees since he has returned from his thumb injury. He has been a TE1 in each of the last three games since the Saints bye. In his last meeting against Atlanta back in week 10, Jared Cook caught six balls for 74 yards. In the last two games after, he has also had a touchdown in each. He is coming off his best game of the season against Carolina where he caught six for 99 yards and a touchdown. Don’t leave Jared Cook on your bench this Thanksgiving.

Other Good Starts:

  • Jack Doyle vs. Tennessee Titans
  • Ryan Griffin @ Cincinnati Bengals
  • Gerald Everett @ Arizona Cardinals

Sit of the Week: Jacob Hollister vs. Minnesota Vikings

Before Seattle’s Week 11 bye, it seemed as if Hollister was sliding right into the Will Dissly role, being Russell Wilson’s big-bodied target in the middle of the field. In his first two games as the starting tight end, Hollister caught 12 of 16 targets for 99 yards and three touchdowns. However, last week against the Eagles, in what should have been an easier matchup for Hollister, he only caught two of four targets for 22 yards. Hollister should see a tougher matchup against Minnesota, so I wouldn’t be too dependent on a bounce-back game. With a healthy Lockett, an emerging Metcalf, a newly acquired Josh Gordon and heavily involved running back committee, I’m looking elsewhere at the tight end position this week.

Other Good Sits:

  • Kyle Rudolph @ Seattle Seahawks
  • Noah Fant vs. Los Angeles Chargers
  • Mike Gesicki vs. Philadelphia Eagles
