The UFC has officially announced the return of Conor McGregor. The bout will headline UFC 246 on January 18th. Even more, the fight will be in the welterweight division against Donald Cerrone. The Cowboy and Mystic Mac will finally get their chance at each other.
ESPN’s Brett Okamoto reported that Dana White said McGregor has signed to make the fight official. Fan-favorites of the sport in the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, what more do fight fans want?
McGregor last appeared in the octagon in October 2019 losing against Khabib Nurmagomedov. After the defeat Conor’s life has “been in the wrong”, being involved in incidents with the law. The Notorious is determined for redemption and wants his loyal fans back. The only way to do that is to earn their respect. The UFC needs their long-time cover star back and fully focused.
Across the Octagon, Cerrone is coming off a loss to rising star Justin Gaethje. Cowboy holds the record for most wins in UFC history and was once a lightweight title challenger. He has long awaited his chance to get his hands on Mystic Mac. His record will most certainly look better following a win over McGregor.
The former multi-class champion has one UFC appearance in three years. His last win came from UFC 205 against Eddie Alvarez. The household name superstar has officially signed the contract and fans from around the world are grateful. Conor McGregor has been one of the biggest stars in the world, however, that statement has been tarnished. Can Conor renew this proclamation and redeem his career?
