The Colts’ playoff chance is fading away after losing to the Titans 31-17 on Sunday. The 6-5 Colts matched up with the 6-5 Titans, and just like last week, the Colts were the losing AFC South Team. This loss puts the Colts in third place in the AFC South and is now two games behind Houston after they beat the Patriots on Sunday night. Here is a recap of each facet of the Colts’ Week 13 game.

Colts' Playoff Chance Fading

Jacoby Brissett finished with 319 passing yards, but he threw the ball 40 times so that yardage total is volume-driven. He threw one touchdown, along with two interceptions. His QB rating was a below-average 74.9, and he was sacked three times. A few of the Colts’ receivers had good games due to the heavy passing usage. Zach Pascal caught seven of ten targets for 109, and Jack Doyle caught six of eleven targets for 73 yards and a touchdown.

The Colts’ rushing attack was stymied, finishing with 82 yards on 24 carries for an average of under three and a half yards per rush. Jordan Wilkins was the leading rusher with 11 carries for 47 yards, and Nyheim Hines scored a one-yard rushing touchdown. Jonathan Williams, who has had heavy usage the last two games, finished with eight carries for 14 yards.

The Colts’ defense forced a few turnovers, but overall they could not stop the Titan’s offense. Ryan Tannehill completed 17 out of 22 passes for 182 yards and two touchdowns. His QB rating was an excellent 131.2, and the Colts sacked him six times.

Also, Derrick Henry destroyed the Colts rush defense. He finished with 26 carries for 149 yards and a touchdown. His performance ended the Colts’ streak of 29 games without allowing a 100-yard rusher. Ryan Tannehill and Derrick Henry both lost fumbles, but it was not enough for the Colts’ to overcome the Titans offense.

Special Teams:

Another week, another bad special teams game for the Colts. Adam Vinatieri only made one of his four field-goal attempts. He missed a 55-yard field goal and then had two more field goals blocked by the Titans. One of those blocks was returned 63 yards for a Titan’s touchdown by Tye Smith. He made a 28-yard field goal and both of his extra points.

The Colts take on the Buccaneers next Sunday in Tampa Bay.
