Start or Sit Week 14: Runningbacks

Start or Sit Week 14: Running Backs brought to you by Overtime Heroics. Fantasy players that are clear starters will not be included in this article, such as Patrick Mahomes, Christian McCaffrey, and Michael Thomas. All the fantasy stats shown below will be based on a Point Per Reception (PPR) scoring format.

Start of the Week: James White vs Kansas City Chiefs

In PPR, James White should be a no-brainer. In the Patriots’ last game against the Houston Texans, James White caught eight passes for 98 yards and two touchdowns while adding 79 yards on the ground from 14 carries. All this added up to 37.7 PPR points. Now, James White faces the worst fantasy defense against running backs. Expect him to have a huge game on Sunday in what could be a shoot out.

Other Good Starts:

  • Miles Sanders vs New York Giants
  • Jamaal Williams and Aaron Jones vs Washington Redskins
  • Devonta Freeman vs Carolina Panthers

Sit of the Week: Marlon Mack/Jonathan Williams @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers

It doesn’t matter who plays in this game. Surprisingly, the Buccaneers have been very stout against the run. According to ESPN, they are the third-best team at defending fantasy running backs. Last week, they held Leonard Fournette to a mere 38 rushing yards. Fournette still had 18.1 points, but that is because of the nine receptions he had. Even in that case, Nyheim Hines is the pass-catching back for the Colts, not either of these guys.

Other Good Sits:

  • Devin Singletary vs Baltimore Ravens
  • Bo Scarbrough @ Minnesota Vikings
  • Tevin Coleman & Company @ New Orleans Saints
