Trae Young, and the Hawks, Look for Answers

Early in this season, this young Hawks core have been looking for answer. They’ve quickly gone from must see league pass TV, to a team in desperate need of a win. Last week, the Hawks dropped games to the T-Wolves, Bucks, Pacers, and were on the wrong side of a 158-111 route at the hands of the Rockets. A game in which James Harden only needed three quarters to score 60 points! That four game losing streak added to the previous week which resulted in a ten game losing skid and 4-16 on the season.

Luckily, for the Hawks, the injury riddled Warriors came to town on Monday night. Trae was able to lead the desperate Hawks to a win, breaking their losing streak. Over the last five games, Trae has been on a tear. He’s averaging 36.4ppg, 7.8apg, and 4.8rpg. All while shooting 50% from the field, 47% from three, and 95% from the free throw line. This also included a game where he tied his career high of 49 points.

Through all the unfortunate injuries, to John Collins untimely suspension, and the underwhelming start to Cam Reddish’s career, the Hawks know they have a generational talent in Trae Young. With players getting healthier and Collins’ return on the horizon, the Hawks look to string some wins together. After a good start on Monday against the Warriors, the hawks have games against the Nets and Hornets this week. Two very winnable games. Hopefully, these desperate Hawks can try to salvage this horrific start to the season. And for my weekly Cam Reddish optimistic statement, he can’t play any worse, so this week should be the week he takes off! Right?
