Canucks Advent Day 7: Top 25 Players Of The 2010’s

With Christmas on the horizon and and the decade coming to a close, it is the perfect time to rank the best Canucks of the 2010’s. This is the Canucks Advent Calendar.

Each day until Christmas I will rank one player until we have the top 25 of the 2010’s. These Vancouver icons will be ranked on their statistics, impact on the city and overall play during their time with Vancouver. Rankings will be based on the player’s Vancouver tenure during the 2010’s only, prior seasons with the team will make little impact to the rankings.

19. J.T. Miller (2019-Present)

Statistics: 29 GP, 12 G, 17 A, 29 PTS

Although J.T. Miller has played less than half a season in Vancouver, his performance has justified a spot on this list. J.T. Miller was acquired by the Canucks during the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. Vancouver gave up Marek Mazanec 2019 third round pick and a 2020 conditional first round pick. At the time, fans were not happy with the transaction – things have changed since then.

Since joining the roster, Miller has added an impressive amount of offense to the top six. His play has erased all doubt from the fans that he was not worth a first rounder. Playing mainly on the top line, Miller has been able to keep up a point-per-game pace so far. Miller broke his career-high by scoring four points in a single game against the Los Angeles Kings. Miller has also been fairly proficient at the faceoff dot currently boosting a career best 57.2%.

At age 26 with a $5,250,000 with 3 more seasons after this one, his contract is another bright point fans can get excited about. He is young enough that he still has room to grow and improve. If Miller can continue to put up a point per game than we may just be witnessing the beginning of an elite player in Vancouver. It will be excited to see where he goes from here.

Miller has made an instant impact on this maturing young roster. Continued success from him may contribute to the first Vancouver playoff appearance in five years. If he can help take them that far. Regardless, Vancouver has looked better than they have in several seasons. He has been a massive factor in this newfound success. For these reasons J.T. Miller is the 19th most important player of this decade.
