What Happened Last Week?
The Green Bay Packers will host the Washington Redskins in week 14. The Packers enter the game 9-3, after a 31-13 beat down of the New York Giants. Although they finished with 322 yards of total offense, they were super-efficient. Aaron Rodgers completed 64% of his passes and added four touchdowns. The offense as a whole converted 54% on third down. The defense was just as great, finishing with three interceptions and seven passes defensed. The Packers defense will look to get a few sacks this week, something they didn’t do against the Giants.
The Washington Redskins enter the game 3-9 after a 29-21 road victory over the Carolina Panthers. Quarterback Dwayne Haskins didn’t have a very good game, but the running game is what won it for them. Darrius Guice ran for 129 yards and two touchdowns on just ten carries. Veteran Adrian Peterson finished with 99 yards on only 13 carries, and as a team, they finished with 248 yards on the ground. On the defensive side, they sacked Kyle Allen seven times and forced two turnovers. They will need to be aggressive on the defensive side in order to keep their offense in the game.
Three Keys To Victory For The Packers
Force A Few Turnovers
In his six career games, Dwayne Haskins has fumbled five times and thrown six interceptions. Not only will he be on the road, but he’ll be at historic Lambeau Field, where it’s always difficult for opposing teams. If they can get one, a couple more should follow.
Stop The Run
As mentioned earlier, Darrius Guice and Adrian Peterson went off last week for 228 yards on the ground. Although the Redskins only average 99 yards rushing per game, Green Bay allows 123 yards per game. Stopping the run should be the main priority.
Show Competent Run Blocking
Although Rodgers was great last week, the running game wasn’t the prettiest. Green Bay finished with only 79 yards on the ground, including just 11 carries for 18 yards by Aaron Jones. The Packers will want to run the ball, but it starts with the big boys up front opening some holes.
The Green Bay Packers have shown the ability to handle lesser opponents. This week should be much different, and with a win here at Lambeau, the Packers can clinch a playoff spot for the first time since 2016. That will be enough motivation for them, and the Packers will roll 34-16.
