Congratulations are in order for the Heat’s Jimmy Butler. After leading the Heat to a 3-1 record weekly record, Jimmy snags his 1st Eastern Conference acknowledgment as a member of Heat nation. During the week, Jimmy averaged 27.5 points, 9 rebounds and 9.5 assists. He also added 1.3 steals a game as the Heat won 3 of their 4 games this week.
Here’s an outlook at what Jimmy Butler managed to do this week:
Jimmy’s Triple-Double Leads Miami’s Road OT Win
In the 2nd game of a 3-game road trip against top east contenders Jimmy showed up and showed out. In 41 minutes, including OT, Butler posted 22 points, 13 rebounds and 12 assists. After hitting the game-tying free throw late in the 4th quarter, OT was Jimmy time. Butler, hit an and-one, a floater three and had a steal which resulted in a dunk all in a minute’s work. This capped off a personal 8-0 resulting in a Nick Nurse timeout. From there, the Heat dominated OT 13-2, ultimately winning the game 121-110.
Butler Pours 37 in a Loss to the Celtics
A night after his first triple-double on the season the Heat moved onto Boston. Thanks to the scheduling gods, this was another loss that resulted in the Heat having to play a road back-to-back, 112-93. The Heat as a whole struggled all night, but Jimmy was the one exception. Butler poured in a season-high 37 in this one. He was an impressive 6 of 10 from three and also added 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals to his stat-line. Jimmy did all he could in this one to give the Heat a chance to win. In the end, it was just not nearly enough.
Back Home, Back Triple-Doubling
Two nights later, Jimmy continued his dominant week in a Heat uniform. This time in the beautiful Vice Wave jerseys. Like in Toronto, Jimmy was what the Heat wanted and more posting his second triple-double of the year in as many days. He had a little more help in this one as Bam (24 points) and Herro (22 points) added their input. Despite a mere 2 point 3rd quarter, Jimmy once again was clutch when needed. Scoring 8 of his 28 in the 4th including 2 big-time threes.
Jimmy Once Again Productive in Comeback Win vs Bulls
A win that was all thanks to Tyler Herro. Consequently, Jimmy Butler assisted on three of Herro’s last four three-pointers. All the attention, and for good reason, has been draped all over Butler, but the unselfishness of him is what makes this worthwhile. Herro’s three to set up overtime was thanks to a Jimmy drive and kick out as was his go-ahead three. After a scrappy play by Jimmy where he got two offense rebounds, he kicked the ball out to Herro and the rest is history. Butler finished this game 17 of 21 from the line with 23 points. He also again added 7 assists and 6 rebounds, no one bigger than the rebound and assist to Tyler Herro however.
Butler had himself quite a week. He led to Heat to a 3-1 record. He now has the Heat 3rd in the East at 17-6. Jimmy has been quite the centerpiece for Miami this week and this season. As a result of this, the Heat are exceeding most expectations. If the Heat keep playing this type of basketball, don’t expect this to be the last of awards for Jimmy Butler.
