Per Jeff Passan, the Los Angeles Angels have acquired star third baseman, Anthony Rendon. The done deal is reported to be 7 years, for 245 Million.

The Angels finally have acquired a second superstar player to put next to Mike Trout. It would be a shame for the Angels to waste his career as Trout only has three career playoff plate appearances.
The move likely means utilityman, David Fletcher, will slide over to second base for the upcoming season with Andrelton Simmons at shortstop, and Albert Pujols at first base.
Zack Cozart was a wild disappointment last season for the Angels with an atrocious .322 OPS over just 38 games. He was shipped off to the San Francisco Giants in a salary dump earlier this week.
Rendon is obviously a massive upgrade at third base as he led the NL in doubles and runs batted in last season. Rendon was huge for the Nationals on their World Series run and finished third in the NL MVP race behind Cody Bellinger and Christian Yelich in 2019.
The Nationals knew they wouldn’t be able to retain both Rendon and Stephen Strasburg, who were both free agents. Strasburg signed a 7 yr 245M deal with the Nationals earlier this week.
The signing also helps the Braves, Mets, Phillies, and even the Marlins with Rendon out of the division. Atlanta and Philadelphia have both been very active during this offseason.
Overall, this is an excellent signing for the Angels as Trout/Rendon/ Shohei Ohtani could be one of the best cores to an MLB lineup this upcoming season.
