The UFC co-main event this Saturday is looking to be a good one, with Max ‘Blessed’ Holloway looking to defend his title for the fourth time against Australian challenger Alexander ‘The Great’ Volkanovski.

The Champion

‘Blessed’ Holloway is only the third Undisputed champion in UFC featherweight history. He’s currently sitting atop of the 145-pound division with notable wins over Frankie Edgar, Anthony Pettis, and Jose Aldo.

Holloway is making his third appearance after losing a decision to Dustin Poirier but rebounding with a win over Edgar. ‘Blessed’ is looking to end his year with fourth title defence.

With Holloway set to fight in Las Vegas for the first time in four years, Blessed is looking to bring his signature pace and volume to the challenger in order to retain his featherweight title. Currently, Holloway holds the most title defences amongst active male champions, at 3. Adding a fourth title defence will not only add to those numbers but put him ahead of former Hawaiian lightweight king Bj Penn.

The Challenger

‘The Great’ is set to challenge for the featherweight title for the first time in his career, with an impressive 7-0 UFC record, including wins over title challenger Chad Mendes and former champion Jose Aldo.

Volkanovski is looking to become the second-ever Australian UFC champion by dethroning ‘Blessed’. The challenger is looking for the upset as he heads into Las Vegas.

Fighting for only the second time in 2019, the challenger is confident that his strength, durability and power will be enough to not only withstand the champions pace but excel in the areas where he believes the champion normally thrives.

Volankovski is looking to match Holloway’s pace with power and constant wrestling attack. The challenger has shown not only can his strike with the best but he can also take it to the mat both offensively and defensively.

Fans are sure to be on the edge of their seats with this one as it promises to be another classic. Both fighters are sure to bring their A-game while looking to end 2019 on a high.
