Packers Vs Bears: Week 15 Preview

What Happened Last Week?

Week 15 of the NFL season will feature the Green Bay Packers vs. the Chicago Bears. This rematch from week one will have significant playoff implications for both teams. With a win for the Packers, they can secure a playoff spot for the first time since 2016. For the Bears, winning keeps their playoff hopes alive.

The Packers are entering the game 10-3, after an unimpressive 20-15 win over the Washington Redskins. Aaron Rodgers finished with a very pedestrian 195 yards and one touchdown. Aaron Jones, on the other hand, exploded for 192 total yards and one touchdown. The defense had a strong game, allowing just 242 total yards. They added four sacks and an interception as well. Aaron Rodgers will need to have a much better game versus Chicago, who’s defense is much better then Washington’s was.

Chicago is entering the game 7-6, and are riding a three-game win streak. Last week, they had an impressive win, at home, over the Dallas Cowboys. Mitchell Trubisky went off for 307 total yards and four total touchdowns. They also finished with 151 yards on the ground and went 7/13 on third down. The defense didn’t do anything special, but they did get two sacks while holding the league’s top offense to just 24 points. The offense will be looking for revenge this week, after scoring only three points in their week one matchup.

Three Keys To Victory For The Packers

Keep Aaron Rodgers Clean

Although the Packers offensive line did keep Khalil Mack from sacking Rodgers in week one, they did allow five sacks to four other guys. Rodgers has been sacked 31 times this year (2.4 sacks per game). Keeping him healthy should be the top priority for the Packers as they prepare for the postseason.

Get The Ground Game Going

Green Bay enters the game averaging 107 yards rushing per game. When these teams faced off week one, the Packers were only able to get 47 yards on the ground. Getting into third and shorts will be vital to keeping the Bears front seven from charging full speed every third down.

Make Mitchell Trubisky Throw The Ball

In week one, Trubisky threw the ball 45 times and only completed 58% of them. The Packers were able to keep him in the pocket and got five sacks and one interception. Keeping him from extending plays with his legs will be a big key to success.

The Packers are in a race for a top-two seed in the playoffs and need to handle the Bears, especially at home. With their playoff hopes still alive, Chicago is going to come in ready to play. This game looks to be a defensive battle, but Rodgers and LaFleur have a lot to prove after the offensive stinker against Washington. Packers will win 20-13.
