The 2019 season isn’t over yet, but we already know who the Packers will be facing during the upcoming season. Green Bay will most certainly have a target on their back as they will be the defending Super Bowl Champions. Here is the breakdown of the 2020 opponents.
HOME: Minnesota Vikings, Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears, Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans, and the Philadelphia Eagles.
AWAY: Minnesota Vikings, Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears, New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, and the San Francisco 49ers.
Green Bay’s non-divisional home opponents in 2020 combined for a 36-44 record during the regular season in 2019. The Packers figure to be favored in the majority, if not all, of their home games this upcoming season. None of their home opponents in 2020 won double digit games in 2019, and 3 had sub .500 records.
On the flip side, Green Bay’s non-divisional away opponents in 2020 combined for a 50-30 record in 2019 with three teams winning double digit games (Saints, 49ers, Texans). However, two of those teams also finished with a below .500 record (Buccaneers and Colts). Green Bay will be tested on the road in 2020, but will also have a few games sprinkled in that are very winnable.
One thing to keep an eye on when the full schedule is released, for the last 3 years, the Packers have ended the season facing Detroit. All 3 years the game has been meaningless when it comes to divisional standings. I predict the Packers play Minnesota in week 17 in 2020, as it could be for the division.
