Last Sunday, the Michigan Wolverines (10-3) won their tenth game of the season against the UMass Lowell River Hawks (6-9) by a score of 86-60. Michigan defeated a feisty UMass Lowell team that was looking to secure their seventh win of the season.

Michigan jumped out to an early lead, despite Isaiah Livers missing the game due to a leg injury. The Wolverines closed the first half leading the River Hawks 42-25. In addition to Michigan closing the first half strong, the team managed to end the game shooting 53.7 percent from the floor.

Michigan Wolverines: Insert Jon Teske

Not to mention Jon Teske, who played lights out as he scored a career-high 25 points. In addition to his career-high, he recorded eight rebounds. When the 7-foot-1 center is aggressive, this team is hard to stop.

Throughout the game, Zavier Simpson did an excellent job of pushing the pace and getting everyone involved. Eli Brooks ended the game with 15 points, 3 assists, and 2 rebounds, while Simpson finished the game with 9 points, 10 assists, and 6 rebounds.

Ultimately, Michigan dominated as a collective and every player contributed in their own way. Austin Davis (7 points), Adrien Nunez (6 points), Colin Castleton (4 points) and David Dejulius (3 points) played huge minutes for the Wolverines.

Similar to last week, Michigan dominated the glass, recording 41 boards to UMass Lowell’s 25. Also, the Wolverines held the River Hawks to 30.8 percent from three and 41.7 percent from the floor.

On the other hand, the River Hawks found some success in the fast break as they provided problems for the Wolverines at times. Christian Lutete led UMass Lowell in scoring with 21 points while Obadiah Noel (16 points) and Ron Mitchell (11 points) also scored double-digits.

All and all, the Wolverines were too much for the River Hawks. Teske and the Michigan front court-imposed their will on UMass Lowell. The size difference benefited Michigan on the boards and with second-chance points.

Next Up for Wolverines

Lastly, the Michigan Wolverines will go on the road for their next game this Sunday, January 5th, at 1:30 pm E.T. on CBS.
