Anthony Davis injury
Another comfortable blowout win had just become much less fun for the Lakers and their superstar big man. Although it’s too soon to say just how serious it will be for their championship aspirations.
Davis left in the third quarter after bruising his lower back on a nasty fall on during the Laker’s sixth victory over the Knicks on Tuesday night. It is believed that Davis bruised his sacrum, the bottom part of the spine above the tailbone.
Davis teammates were extremely anxious as they watched over him. In addition to fright the Lakers had, coach Frank Vogel gave his thoughts on Davis’s injury. “Fingers crossed, hope for the best, pray for the best.”
After regulation, LeBron spoke to the media in the locker room regarding Anthony Davis. “We’re hoping he’ll be fine, and we believe he’ll be fine.” Furthermore, James played through last night’s contest with an illness.
It seems that Davis is expected to miss a little playing time, potentially up to three weeks. Davis will certainly miss the upcoming two-game road trip stance, starting Friday night at Dallas.
Caldwell-Pope shared his deep care for his teammate,” We hope he’s all right. We’re just hoping he’ll get better soon. We need him.”
James notched up 31 points whilst his teammate, Caldwell Pope added 15 points after bouncing back from what it looked like a serious knock to the head by Bobby Portis. Portis was given a flagrant foul and therefore ejected out of the game. However, the Lakers (30-7) didn’t exactly express their joy after becoming the second team to win 30 games this season.
New York Knicks
Canadian Rookie RJ Barrett drooped 19 points for the Knicks. Whilst Julius Randle added a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds against his former team. The Knicks dropped to 0-3 on their west coast trip.
Frank Vogel’s side had a little trouble holding off the Knicks in the second half especially since Davis’ abrupt exit. Furthermore former Laker, Reggie bullock started in place of Marcus Morris and scored 7 points in just 27 minutes.
The Knicks continue their road trip, as they go up against the Utah Jazz (24-12)
Up next for Los Angeles Lakers
On Friday night the Los Angeles Lakers start their two-game road trip at the American Airlines Center against the Dallas Mavericks (23-13). This will be the third meeting between Los Angeles and Dallas this season.
