USHL Weekly Player Update

Last week was pretty light when it comes to USHL news. The division leaders remained the same as did every team’s roster. Although it was a light week, there’s always something new to report!

USHL Players of the Week

The USHL announced their players of the week for the 17th time this year and it included Brendan Brisson, Erik Portillo, and Mitchell Miller. Brisson, a forward from the Steel, played two games last week and scored two goals, had three assists, and had a +/- of three. His points total is at 35 and includes 17 goals and 18 assists. He’s ranked 31st in North America’s NHL Central Scouting report.

Defenseman Mitchell Miller of the Storm tallied three goals and four assists in three games last week and had a +/- of three. He recorded a goal in all three games last week which brings his season points total to 18- five goals and 13 assists. He’s committed to North Dakota and was ranked as the 48th North American skater in the NHL Central Scouting report.

Goaltender Erik Portillo of the Saints saved 38 of 39 shots faced in his lone game last week. Portillo was selected by the Sabres in the 2019 NHL Draft with the 67th overall pick in the third round. He’s committed to play at the University of Michigan.

Joey Cipollone Commits to Quinnipiac

The most recently acquired player by the Storm, Joey Cipollone, has committed to play hockey at Quinnipiac University. He played one season at the University of Vermont but as things do, they change. Cipollone had this to say about his most recent decision, “Quinnipiac gives me the opportunity to play for a terrific hokey program and study in a well-known business program. The coaching staff is great, and they played a big factor in my decision. Quinnipiac will give me a great opportunity to develop as a player and as a person.”
