On the 9th of May 2020, it will have been 918 days since the Bellator Light Heavyweight Title was last defended.
If that wasn’t enough to get MMA fans excited, it sees champion Ryan Bader cutting back down in weight. After coming off the back of winning the Bellator heavyweight tournament.
What else can you ask for? The man he is facing is Vadim Nemkov, the protégé of Fedor Emelianenko, who Bader coincidentally beat in the Grand Prix Finals to win the heavyweight title and become the two-weight champion.
What else can you want in the return defence of the light heavyweight title?
Currently, on a 7 fight win streak, Bader is a champion full of confidence, which includes winning the light heavyweight and heavyweight titles respectively. What will it take to stop this man?
5 of those 7 wins during Bader’s win streak have come via stoppage, including a 1st round stoppage of his opponent’s mentor, MMA legend Fedor Emelianenko.
With a record of 11-2-0, Nemkov is coming into this fight on the back of a six-fight win streak. That includes recent wins over Phil Davis via split decision and a 2nd round choke stoppage of Rafael Cavalho.
The question is, does Nemkov have what it takes to take down the double champion?
