The Toronto Maple leafs have acquired Goaltender Jack Campbell and forward Kyle Clifford from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for forward Trevor Moore and a 2020 third round pick. A conditional third round pick in 2021 will also be heading to the Kings. The Kings will also retain 50 per cent of Clifford’s salary as part of the trade.

In 20 games this season, Campbell has a record of 8-10 while putting up a .900 save percentage and a 2.85 goals against average. Clifford has played 53 games this season, registering 6 goals and 8 assists for 14 points, but plays a physical game which is something the Maple Leafs have been lacking.

Moore, on the other hand, has been battling injuries all season. In 26 games for the Leafs this season he scored 3 goals and 2 assists for 5 points.

The trade broke just a half hour after the Leafs soul crushing loss to the New York Rangers on Wednesday night.

The Maple Leafs have been rumored to be in the market for a goaltender for a while. It looks like they finally found the right deal.

The Maple Leafs sit outside the playoffs looking in and hope that this trade can help them down the stretch.

This move comes just over a year after the Leafs acquired Jake Muzzin from the Kings in exchange for 2 prospects and a pick.

The Maple Leafs next play on Friday night when they host the Anaheim Ducks at Scotiabank Arena on the first half of a back-to-back.
