3 of The Biggest Games Left For The Houston Rockets

The Houston Rockets have 28 games left and are currently fifth in the Western Conference. They trail the Nuggets by 3.5 games, the Clippers by 2.5 games and Jazz by two games. Playoff positioning has started. Let’s discuss three of the biggest games left on the Rockets schedule.

Everyone remembers how the last game ended with a 30-foot fall-away three at the buzzer by Bojan Bogdanovic. The Rockets and Jazz come into this game tied 1-1 in their season series matchup. The Rocket trail the Jazz by two games and this will be the final regular-season meeting of the year for the two teams.

The winner has the all-important tiebreaker if it was to come down to it. This game will be on the Jazz home court where the Rockets won in January 126-117.

Houston Rockets lead series 2-1

In what is becoming one of the Rocket’s biggest rivals the Rockets host the Clippers. The Rockets currently hold a 2-1 lead in the season series. With a win, the Houston Rockets can secure the head to head tiebreaker. With a recent playoff series and mega trades between the two teams, this series has become contentious, to say the least.

This game also holds importance because the Rockets are only 2.5 games behind the Clippers. Of course another subplot is the ongoing feud between Westbrook and Beverly.

Season series tied 1-1

Even if the Rockets don’t catch the Lakers in the standings this game is still important. The measuring stick in the Western Conference this year is the Lakers. The last game between these two teams was the first after the trade for Robert Covington. This was the first defining moment of “small ball” for the Rockets.

In this game, the Rockets were led by Westbrook and Covington who both had huge impacts on the game. Covington showed exactly why the Rockets traded for him making huge defensive plays. Westbrook took over in the fourth quarter as the Rockets pulled away for the win. A win for the Rockets would give them a 2-1 season series victory as this is the last regular-season game vs the Lakers.

Like mentioned earlier there are several huge games for the Rockets in the last 28 games. These three are huge not only because of the head to head implication but also the standings.
