UFC Fight Night Rio Rancho: Recap and Future Predictions

As the UFC packs its bags to leave New Mexico it is leaving with some memories. The first time in Rio Rancho the UFC put on a show, 2 Disqualifications and a hell of a knock out the UFC left its mark on the Land of Enchantment. The last time the UFC was in New Mexico was in June of 2014 where it was headlined by Benson Henderson and Rustam Khabilov and it was in Albuquerque as opposed to Rio Rancho.

Lando Vannata edges out a decision win against Yancy Medeiros

Ray Born puts on a wrestling clinic against Rogério Bontorin to win via Decision

Coming off a win last July and Personal issues regarding his son’s medical issues. “The Tazmexican Devil” put on a wrestling clinic to edge out a Unanimous decision victory on a fight that could’ve ended his UFC tenure. Although Ray Borg was overweight at weigh-ins that did not stop him from putting on a dominant performance. So what’s next for the fighters?

Brok Weaver defeated Kazula Vargas via DQ by the way of illegal knee

This one hurts me because I wanted to see this fight go the distance. Sadly Brok Weaver’s debut was short-lived due to the illegal knee that won him the fight but also knocked him out. I want to see this fight happen again.

Montana De La Rosa edges out Unanimous Decision win against Mara Romero Borella

Montana De La Rosa was one half of the De La Rosas that fought tonight marking the first married couple to fight on the same UFC card. Although her husband lost in the Preliminary Card Montana De La Rosa was able to avenge his loss using her grappling to ultimately get a decision win over Mara Romero Borella. What’s Next?

Diego Sanchez defeated Michel Pereira via DQ by the way of illegal knee

In his 31st UFC appearance, Diego Sanchez won but not the way many expected. Early in the 3rd round, Diego Sanchez was hit with an illegal knee and in turn, got Michel Pereira disqualified in a fight that he was winning. So what’s next?

Jan Błachowicz finished Corey Anderson via Knockout

In a thrilling main event, the Polish Knockout Artist Jan Błachowicz added another masterpiece to his collection. Halfway into the first round, Błachowicz caught Anderson with a right hand that knocked him down and out, but it didn’t just stop there. Jon Jones was in the audience and Błachowicz called him out after the stoppage. So what’s next?

Next Week the UFC will head to the other side of the world to the Spark Arena in New Zealand where the main event will showcase a Lightweight main event between Paul Felder and Dan Hooker.
