Carroll is a 6-ft-6 combo forward who will fit in perfectly with the Rockets small-ball approach. Carroll has only played in 15 games this year for the Spurs. Last year Carroll shot 34.2 percent from the 3-point line on almost five attempts per game. Carroll will more than likely serve as P.J. Tucker backup or possibly start some games at the small forward position. Carroll at 33 is not the defensive stopper he once was but can still provide an upgrade at the backup power forward and possibly starting small forward position.
Carroll had a 106.2 defensive rating last year for the Nets while playing over 25 minutes a game. He also provided over five rebounds a game. The Rockets still have one more roster spot they have to fill before the end of the week.
More to come on this move once it becomes official.
