Las Vegas Raiders: 7-Round Mock Draft

Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock hope for an encore this year as they own four of the top 81 picks in this year’s draft. Here is a first edition of the Las Vegas Raiders 7-round mock draft.

Round 1: Pick 12

CeeDee Lamb, Wide Receiver, Oklahoma

CeeDee Lamb is a number one receiver in the NFL. He is an incredible athlete, a natural-born wide receiver. Lamb is a skilled route runner as well, with hands that catch any ball in their radius. Lamb averaged 21.9 yards per catch in 2019 at the University of Oklahoma, which is ridiculous. The Las Vegas Raiders lack big-play threats.

With their first pick of the 2020 NFL Draft, the Raiders get their number one pass catcher. After trading away Amari Cooper and the Antonio Brown debacle, the Raiders do not, presently, have a true number one receiver. 

Lamb will immediately come into Las Vegas and fix that problem, giving Derek Carr another dangerous weapon on the outside. At this point, it is almost certain the Raiders will use one of their first-round picks on a wide receiver, the only question, now, is which one. Here, we are going with the Oklahoma product.

Round 1: Pick 19

Patrick Queen, Linebacker, LSU

With their second pick of the first round, this selection coming from the Chicago Bears via the Khalil Mack trade, the Raiders address their other most in-need position. Patrick Queen, a playmaking linebacker from LSU, gives the Raiders an athlete in the middle of their defense that they have not had in a while. 

Yes, Queen is a bit on the smaller side, standing just six-foot-one, but it certainly does not seem like it when he is playing. Queen is strong defending both the pass and run, and the Raiders would finally employ a linebacker that can guard a tight end in the passing game. 

Queen will bring an intensity to the Raiders defense that, along with the return of Johnathan Abram, could allow Las Vegas to completely reshape their unit on that side of the ball. All Raiders fans will welcome this selection.

Round 3: Pick 80

A.J. Terrell, Cornerback, Clemson

Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock love themselves some Clemson Tigers. With their third pick of the 2020 Draft, they add another Tiger here in AJ Terrell. The Raiders need more talent in the secondary. Terrell can help there. 

Joining Trayvon Mullen and John Abram, Terrell will become the newest young member of the Raiders secondary. He has a solid skill-set, and he has nice size at six-foot-two, which we know the Raiders love in defensive backs.

Round 3: Pick 81

Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Running Back, LSU

The Raiders, once again, continue their trend of drafting players that participated in the National Championship game. 

Josh Jacobs has been incredible, but the Raiders can not afford to run him into the ground. He was injured quite a bit already last year, and Las Vegas needs to find a way to keep him fresh. 

Clyde Edwards-Helaire is an extremely tough runner and a weapon catching the ball out of the backfield as well. He can take some of the load off of Jacobs moving forward.

Round 3: Pick 91

Anfernee Jennings, EDGE, Alabama

Anfernee Jennings is a playmaker from the linebacker position. The Raiders can not possibly add enough of those types of players. 

Jennings will come in and join Queen to revamp the Raiders linebacking crew, quickly making the defense much younger and faster.

Round 4: Pick 111

Michael Pittman Jr., Wide Reciever, USC

The Raiders need as much talent as they can get on offense, especially wide receiver. Pittman Jr. will add more weapons for the Raiders quarterback and open up the field even more for the running game.

Round 7: Pick 204

Kendall Coleman, EDGE, Syracuse

With their final selection of the 2020 NFL Draft, the Raiders select another edge rusher to beef up their defensive line. 

Coleman is not a finished product, but Las Vegas seemed to strike gold in the middle rounds last year with Maxx Crosby, so they hope to do the same here.
