Lakers clinch playoff spot in 113-103 win over the Bucks

The Los Angeles Lakers pick up win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday night at the Staples Center. This victory confirms the purple and gold will officially be in this year post season as the team clinch a playoff birth for the first time in seven years.

Heading into prime time fixture, all the discussion was focused on two elite athletes. LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo. James has repeatedly insisted he doesn’t necessarily care about winning another MVP award. The 35-year-old veteran is simple focused on his goal in procuring another championship and ending a 10 year championship drought for the Los Angeles Lakers.

LeBron James displayed a brilliant performance in front of the Lakers crowd at Staples,as he demonstrated why the debate shouldn’t be over just yet for the MVP award.

Anthony Davis dropped 30 points to add to LeBron James 37 points as the Lakers claimed their 48th win of the year and split the regular season series with league leading Milwaukee.

During the post game interview LeBron expressed his elation of the Lakers performances this season and what it means to him to still contribute at a high level.”We know who we are, and this is great competition,” James said. “To have the opportunity to compete at a high level, that’s fun and exciting. But we know what we’re capable of.”

The victory for the Los Angeles Lakers was more meaningful as they clinched a playoff birth. Which ends a seven year drought , the longest in franchise history.

“I came here to put this franchise back where it needed to be,” James said. “The league is not what it is if the Lakers are not winning.”

In addition to LeBron hot night,the former MVP still holds a significant impact to his team as not only he brings leadership to the Lakers roster he adds the creative spark. The Lakers depend on his steady excellence on both ends on the floor.

Milwaukee Bucks

Antetokounmpo had 32 points and 11 rebounds for the Bucks, who have lost two of three games for the first time since October. Donte DiVincenzo scored 17 points for Milwaukee, which has still won seven of nine overall.

During the fourth quarter Antetokounmpo finished strong with 12 points to tally up overall points for the night of 32.

Khris Middleton chipped in 12 points on 5-19 shooting for the Bucks , a very inefficient night for the former all-star. A harrowing nigh for him continued as he went for 2 for 10 on three point shot attempts and had three turnovers.

Bucks head coach Mike Budenholzer praises the Lakers which handed a tenth defeat for his ball club .”They were just better,they’re a very good team. They do a lot of things well. I think it’s good for us, though”.

Up next for the Lakers & Bucks

The Milwaukee Bucks continue their west coast trip as they visit the Phoenix Suns on Sunday night. In addition the Suns are coming off 127-111 home win over Portland on Friday night.

The purple and gold face cross-city rivals the Los Angeles Clippers as the road team at the Staples Center as the road team on Sunday afternoon.
