The league also announced that their players will be paid their full salaries and benefits for the season. Ticket holders will receive their refunds for their tickets this season. The XFL is planning on a second season in 2021. NFL.com’s Tom Pelissero reported that players will be able to sign with other leagues right away.
The XFL has advised players they can sign immediately with teams in the NFL or any other league once their exit physicals are complete tomorrow, per sources. So for the stars — Josh Johnson, P.J. Walker, Jordan Ta’amu, et al. — a chance to land quickly.

Reflecting on the News from the XFL
It’s the news fans were all expecting with leagues like the NBA, MLS, and MLB suspending play themselves. Some XFL players expressed wanting to continue to play and some seemed okay with staying off the field. The league made a tough decision that needed to be made. There would have been a major backlash to play the games as scheduled. Public health is the number one priority for everyone.
The league can now move forward and start thinking about the future of the league. No players will be apart of the league again since they signed a one year contract. Coaches will also be the focus of the league to decide whether to retain their services or let them walk. There’s plenty of decisions to be made with the league going in the right direction. They just have to hope the 2021 season will go better than this season.
