The Cincinnati Bengals made it clear early on, and they went through with it. Seven-time Pro Bowler A.J. Green received the franchise tag from the Bengals. This is the first time the Bengals have utilized a franchise tag since 2013.
According to OverTheCap.com, the Franchise Tag for wide receivers will be worth $18.325 million. This means that A.J. Green will receiver that pay for a year.
Green said that after he receives the tag if a new extension does not happen, he will sit out offseason workouts. He turns 32 in July, so a new extension may not be reached for the aging wide receiver who missed all of last season and missed half of 2018. In his last full season in 2017, Green had over 1000 yards and eight touchdowns to earn a spot in the Pro Bowl.
