Miami Dolphins Add Kyle Van Noy

The Dolphins have added former Patriots linebacker Kyle Van Noy on a four-year deal worth $51 million, per Mike Garafolo. That way, the spending Parlee in Miami continues at a fascinating pace.

Miami entered the offseason in full rebuild mode and is looking at speeding up the process. Van Noy was one of the most reliable linebackers in the league while in New England. In 2019, he had his most dominant year rushing opposing quarterbacks.

Erick Flowers already improved the offensive line, while pass-rusher Shaq Lawson is also expected to sign an expensive deal. Then, next on the agenda was the cornerback position and the Dolphins addressed it with the most-demanded free-agent corner – Byron Jones.

On the other hand, the big money splash doesn’t show signs of disappearing anytime soon. The Dolphins are still looking for a new running back. Their quarterback plan likely includes either an experienced Brady (or Rivers) or a young Tagavailoa in the Draft.

Moreover, Van Noy is often noted for his versatility. He shared a similar time dropping back in coverage and rushing the passer under Bill Belichick. After his most prolific campaign doing the former, he reunites with his former coach from Detroit. Despite them getting a brand-new Lawson, the Dolphins would want to use Van Noy and put pressure on the quarterback as often as possible.

All in all, Miami’s spectacular activity makes for interesting questions. Dolphins still have nearly $50 million available even after today’s moves. They have a league-high 14 draft picks. How far can this team go? It’s certain that they’re not done spending.
