Another Move by Browns Adding Andrew Billings

The Browns add another young veteran to the fold in Andrew Billings on a 1-year deal worth $3.5M fully guaranteed. Billings spent his first three years in Cincinnati starting appearing in 47 games with 37 starts. Billings is only 25 years old and possesses a lot of talent. This is a great depth move that provides a ton of upside should Billings blossom into the talent he possesses. Andrew Berry has done a great job this offseason so far. He is bringing in young talented players to fill needs all over both sides of the ball. If his drafting is on par with the moves made in free agency Browns fan should be happy this offseason.

Andrew Billings, Defensive Tackle

As you can see below, Billings is strong and had an outstanding career for Baylor. The Bengals took a chance in the fourth round of the 2016 draft that they were getting a steal. While Billings never really became the stud they were looking for, he has been a starter the past two seasons. Over those two seasons, Billing put up 67 tackles, 12 for loss, 3.5 sacks, and 18 quarterback pressures. His missed tackle rate per Pro Football Reference was 9.5%.

Here is what Pro Football Focus(69.3) had to say:

“Andrew Billings has played the sixth-most snaps at nose tackle the last couple of seasons and sat right around the 50th percentile in two-year grade. When at 3-tech, his pass-rushing was below-average, but at nose Billings owned one of the 10 highest grades and win rates. In fact, his win rate at nose tackle was actually two percentage points higher than his win rate at 3-tech which is fairly uncommon to see.”
