Browns Sign Two More Free Agents

The Cleveland Browns new regime has signed two more free agents today. They have added former Buffalo Bills cornerback Kevin Johnson on a one year $3.5 million deal that can escalate to six million dollars via incentives. The Browns also added wideout/return man JoJo Natson from the Rams on a one year one million dollar deal. Both deals help to fill depth at corner and wideout along with special teams. So far, the Browns have now brought in nine new players via free agency and trade.

Johnson could be a sneaky great signing. He was a strong presence for Buffalo last season as a third corner. As a matter of fact, he was so good he started pushing for more playing time as the season went on. Johnson finished the year with 36 tackles, one for loss, and five passes defended in just 336 snaps. He also played 56% of special team’s snaps bringing more depth there. The other big key to his value is that only 59.1 of passes thrown his way were completed. He also did not give up a touchdown. Johnson adds a nice depth piece to both the secondary and special teams. Anthony Berry continues to strike gold in free agency, big or small.

Jojo Natson, Wide Reciever

Jojo Natson spent the previous two seasons with the Los Angeles Rams, averaging 22.2 yards per kick return and 8.2 yards per punt return in 2019 in 12 games before a hamstring injury landed him on injured reserve. In 2018 he finished as one of the highest-graded returners in the NFL at 74.5(image above). In 2019 he was not quite as effective with a 61.1 grade finishing 26th out of 54 players. A one million dollar flier on improving the return game from a year ago makes sense. We will see if he can hang on and provide some punch.
