Redskins Trade 5th Rounder For Kyle Allen

The Washington Redskins are bringing in another former Panther. Quarterback Kyle Allen is now on his way to D.C. via trade to reunite with his old coaching staff. Allen went 5-7 in 2019 as the Panthers starting quarterback. He threw 3,322 yards, 17 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions for the season.

The Panthers signed XFL star P.J. Walker this morning, giving them five quarterbacks on their roster. That left Kyle Allen on the outside looking in. Allen recently signed a one-year extension worth $585 thousand.

With the addition of Allen, there may be a quarterback competition brewing in Washington. The Redskins traded their second-round pick to the Colts in a deal last April to secure Montez Sweat. They also traded their sixth-round pick to Denver for Case Keenum. Now that they no longer have a fifth-round pick, the draft capital is getting slim.

The Redskins are down to six picks in the upcoming draft. Here’s the full list.

Round 1, Pick 2 Overall
Round 3, Pick 66 Overall
Round 4, Pick 108 Overall
Round 4, Pick 142 Overall
Round 7, Pick 217 Overall
Round 7, Pick 230 Overall
