Legendary Muay Thai fighter, John Wayne ‘The Gunslinger’ Parr was last seen in the ring on November 30th, 2019. He gave his farewell speech after defeating Anthony Mundine in a boxing match, in Parr’s home country, Australia.

RETIREMENT
After years of dedicating his life to Muay Thai, injuries, which included a hip injury, had finally taken its toll on Parr, and a deserved retirement beckoned.
Or so we thought!

SIGNING WITH ONE CHAMPIONSHIP
On March 11th, 2020, Parr announced via his Instagram, that after a meeting with ONE Championship owner Chatri Sityodtong, whilst he was at an event in the corner of Rocky Ogden, the boyfriend of Parr’s daughter Jazzy (who both fight out of Boonchu gym), that he had signed a fight deal for ONE Championship.
POTENTIAL FIGHTS
This announcement has opened the door to some potentially mouthwatering fights.
YODSANKLAI
Could there be a 4th fight against Thai legend and superstar, Yodsanklai Fairtex? These 2 fighters never disappoint, with Yodsanklai currently winning 2 – 1 over Parr. Any Muay Thai fan would love to see these two legends of the sport compete again.
NIEKY HOLZKEN
Or maybe, the mouthwatering clash with Dutch kickboxing sensation, Nieky Holzken. With his kickboxing record of 108-92-15 against Parr’s record of 132-99-33, these two would, no doubt, put on a fight for the ages.
