Carolina Panthers Post-Free Agency Three Round Mock Draft

The Carolina Panthers had an extremely slow start to free agency in 2020. They allowed several key defenders to land with other teams. They also traded a budding offensive line star for an aging vet. However, the Carolina Panthers finished very strong to finish the initial wave of free agency. They added their starting quarterback in Teddy Bridgewater and an explosive playmaker in Robby Anderson. While they have added so much on offense, there are still many holes to fill on the other side of the ball.

Round 1, Isaiah Simmons: Linebacker, Clemson

Isaiah Simmons is the clear-cut best option for the Carolina Panthers. He is an athletic anomaly, with the size, speed and strength to play anywhere on the field and do so at a high level. Adding Simmons as a running mate to Shaq Thompson, who possesses a similar skillset is the best case scenario for Carolina. Adding Jeffrey Okudah or Derrick Brown would be acceptable here as well.

Round 2, Antoine Winfield Jr.: Safety, Minnesota

The Panthers double down on day one starters in the second round of the draft by adding Winfield to a desperately thin secondary. Winfield just makes plays. He is an athletic freak, even though he is undersized. He is a player who is already solid in coverage with the ability to play both safety spots for the Panthers. After falling due to his size, the panthers land a starter here.

Round 3, Marlon Davidson: Defensive Line, Auburn

The theme of versatility continues for Carolina in the third round. Davidson brings the ability to play both inside and outside on the defensive front. He is not the most dynamic pass rusher, but consistently gets to the quarterback. He is not a day one starter, but a player that could step in situationally right away. While it is a stretch that Davidson will be there in the third, it is not impossible.
