Chicago Blackhawks Prospect Chooses Free Agency

Chicago Blackhawks prospect, Ryan Shea has chosen not to sign with the Blackhawks. Ryan Shea is the Northeastern Captain, and has decided to pursue Free Agency on August 15th. Shea is a left-handed defenseman, standing 6’1 and weighing 176 lbs. He had a good career with Northwester, amassing 10 goals and 78 assists in 149 games. In his senior season, he put up 5 goals and 26 assists for 31 points in 34 games. The former 4th round pick, from the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, is hoping for a fresh start with a team that could have room for him in the NHL.

Sources say that Ryan Shea decided to leave the Blackhawks because there is no room for him. This might not be a huge loss for Chicago. He will likely start his professional career in the American Hockey League, and the Chicago Blackhawks prospect system is fairly deep with defenders. He was a Second Team Hockey East All-Star for Northeastern Univ.
