All results were voted on by Facebook group Cubs Corner. Votes have been gathered by fans for three categories. The players that mean the most to the Cubs on the field. What player is the leader of the squad. And what player has the biggest community impact.

What Player Means the Most on the Field

Javier Baez got the win with 64% of votes. Baez being two years removed from finishing second in National League MVP voting. And making back to back All-Star appearances this one shouldn’t come as a shock to many. He’s a career hitter of .270 with a stellar glove. Players who also received votes were Anthony Rizzo (28%), Kris Bryant (7%), and Willson Contreras (1%)

What Player is the Leader

Another non-surprising winner Anthony Rizzo with 71% of votes. Rizzo is the longest standing Cubs player. He has also most definitely won over the respect of his teammates and Cubs faithful. Meanwhile, other players that received votes were Javier Baez (19%), Kris Bryant (6%), Willson Contreras (2%), Jon Lester (2%), and Jason Heyward (<1%)

What Player has the Biggest Impact on the Community

The votes are in and Anthony Rizzo turns out to have the biggest community impact in the eyes of fans. Rizzo compiled 59% of the votes. In 2017 Rizzo won the Roberto Clement Award, the award is given out to the player that “Best exemplifies the game of baseball, sportsmanship, community involvement and the individual’s contribution to his team”. Also, in 2017 through the Anthony Rizzo family foundation and 44 Endowed Fund, he donated $3.5 million which was half his salary of $7 million to Lurie Children’s Hospital. Also every year in his hometown of Parkland, Florida Rizzo hosts a cancer walk called “walk-off for cancer”. Players also receiving votes were Javier Baez (28%), Jon Lester (7%), and Kris Bryant (6%)

Cubs Corner has spoken on the three categories. The player that means the most on the field, the team leader, and who has the biggest community impact. Anthony Rizzo finished and the top of the list for two of the three categories and second-highest voting for on-field skill. And Cubs Corner also showed love to Baez with him taking second in the two categories Rizzo won and also finishing first in voting for his on-field skill. In short Rizzo and Baez cleaned up the polls.
