The Revival Released From WWE

Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder of the Revival have been granted their releases from WWE, the company announced.

The Top Guys had requested to leave WWE after they turned down contracts that would pay them $500,000 per year.

Both Dawson and Wilder filed for trademarks for “Shatter Machine” and “Say Yeah”. WWE has trademarked “No Flips, Just Fists”.

Dawson and Wilder made their debuts in 2014 on NXT where they won the tag titles twice. Their NXT stint also includes a match of the year in 2016 against Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa.

The tag-team got called up to the main roster in 2017. They are two-time RAW tag team champions and they’ve won the Smackdown tag titles once, making them the only team in WWE history to win all three championships.

The team has been openly frustrated with their role in WWE, hinting at their departure on social media. I believe the final straw was when the two were put in a “Miracle on 34th Street Match” against Heavy Machinery.

The Revival are an old-school tag team and are all about the fundamentals of tag team wrestling. It’s likely the two will move to AEW, as the company has been more committed to its tag team division.
