The 2020 NFL Draft’s first round will occur on Thursday, April 23. The Cardinals pick at number eight in the first round.

The draft approaches. There seems to be a mystery behind who the Arizona Cardinals are going to take at number eight. Here are three players the Cardinals could take in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Linebacker Isaiah Simmons, Clemson

Isaiah Simmons is a top-five player in the 2020 NFL Draft class. With an impressive combine and season, Simmons could easily be one of the first players off of the board. However, he could fall to number eight due to team’s establishing other needs like quarterback and offensive line. Simmons is a hybrid defender who could ideally play anywhere, including slot corner, safety, and linebacker. Also, he is very versatile and explosive. The kid can play football well and would fit perfectly into Arizona’s defense.

Defensive Tackle Derrick Brown, Auburn

Derrick Brown is a pure run stopper standing at 6’5 and 326 pounds. He is a big man with lots of strength who can be very disruptive. He has the floor of a solid starter and a ceiling of an All-Pro. With a struggling run defense that finished 23rd in rushing yards per game, this could be the Arizona Cardinal’s pick at number eight. With the addition of Jordan Phillips and a returning Chandler Jones, this run defense could be borderline unstoppable if Brown is the pick at eight.

Wide Receiver CeeDee Lamb, Oklahoma

If we were to talk about someone who is explosive, CeeDee Lamb was that playing in Oklahoma. He caught passes from now Arizona Cardinals’ starting quarterback Kyler Murray. The 2020 NFL Draft is loaded with talent, especially at the wide receiver position. The Cardinals have taken four wide receivers in the past two drafts, and none have shown elite potential. There would be immediate chemistry with Murray and Lamb, which was proven in college. Lamb is a deep threat, with comparisons to the newly acquired Deandre Hopkins. This offense would be tough to stop giving Murray many useful weapons.

Who the Arizona Cardinals are picking at number eight is a difficult decision. Cardinal fans hope that Steve Keim, General Manager of the Arizona Cardinals, picks a superstar that will help us right now and even more in the future. Come April 23, and we shall see who the Cardinals will land in the first round.
