WWE Announces Release Of Multiple Superstars

Due to the impact of the coronavirus, WWE has released several superstars.

Those released include Drake Maverick, Curt Hawkins, EC3, Karl Anderson, Luke Gallows, Eric Young, Lio Rush, and Heath Slater.

“We wish them all the best in their future endeavors,” the company said.

This morning, WWE Chairman, Vince McMahon said there would be talent cuts in order to save money in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

Anderson and Gallows’ release comes as a surprise as they were just featured in the Boneyard Match between AJ Styles and the Undertaker.

The same goes for Drake Maverick. The former 205 Live General Manager was slated to be a part of the interim Cruiserweight Championship tournament that begins tonight on NXT.

Some are not surprising however. Lio Rush had concerns about wrestling during the pandemic and wasn’t included in the Cruiserweight title tournament, EC3 hasn’t wrestled on TV since September, and we haven’t see Hawkins or Young in a while as well.

This may be just the first round of cuts as more superstars may get released in the coming days.

It is an unfortunate time for these wrestlers given the current circumstances, but hopefully they find homes soon.

UPDATE: Kurt Angle, Sarah Logan, Aiden English, referee Mike Chioda, Finlay and many other producers have been added to the list of releases.
