The Ravens had their choice of many very good selections. Instead of addressing wide receiver or edge rusher they choose to go for an inside linebacker.
Patrick Queen is a fantastic value for the Ravens at pick 28! The Ravens could have traded back and still got a good player with the way the board was falling, but Queen fills a big need. With Cesar Ruiz being selected by the Vikings, it makes sense that the Ravens did not go for an offensive lineman. All of the top wide receivers were taken, so it makes sense that they passed on that position as well.
Patrick Queen is going to be a monster in the Ravens scheme. Wink Martindale will be able to use his versatility and leadership to take the Ravens’ defense to the next level. Lining up next to L.J Fort, Queen fills the Ravens’ greatest need on defense. Queen is very fast and athletic. He is exactly what the Ravens needed at the position.
Baltimore Ravens Pick Grade: A+
The Ravens earned a grade of A+ due to filling a need with a very great value player. Getting Queen at 28 is an amazing value pick for the Ravens. Queen easily could have gone in the top 20. The Ravens have to be happy that they were able to get their starter at inside linebacker without having to trade up.
