Is the Rockies Michael Toglia the team’s next star? How do his stats add up and how excited should Rockies fans be?
There is no question that the Rockies had their eyes on Michael Toglia. They tried to draft him out of High School back in 2016 in the 35th round. Instead of signing, he decided to go to the college he committed to, UCLA.
A couple of years later, the Rockies tried again and drafted him in the 1st round with the 23rd pick. This time, they signed him to a $2.725 million deal. In his 3 seasons at UCLA, he played 178 games, and in those games, he had 774 PA. He had 36 HR, 156 RBIs, .307 BA, and an impressive .410 OBP to round it off.
Rockies Michael Toglia: Heading to the Minors
Michael Toglia headed to A (Short) team Boise Hawks. In the short 41 games he had in 2019, he still had an impressive 36 hits, 9 home runs, 26 RBIs, 2.48 AVG, and a .369 OBP.
Bright but Far Future
The future is bright for Toglia. The thing now is that he is a far way from being in The Show. He is only in A(Short) and only got a short 41 games to see how he does against the next level. The bright side of things is that he is the 3rd on the Rockies prospect rankings and it hasn"t even been a year yet! Toglia is a player we need to really focus on during this season and see how fast he will jump up in the minors. He is very impressive and the Rockies liked him out of High School, so they are fully sold on him. Now we have to see if they were right about him.
